What a weekend!

The annual event, set up by our partners The Marine Conservation Society, ran from Friday 15 September until Monday 18 September with hundreds of clean-up events on beaches and rivers all around the UK!

MCS works to help our seas and save threatened marine wildlife and this weekend highlighted the importance of ocean health. MCS’ Beachwatch is the UK’s biggest beach clean programme and has been running for over 20 years. Many of the plastics removed from events over the clean-up weekend will be recycled into new products, giving them a whole new life! With the health of our oceans in danger, beach cleans are a great way for you to help to reduce the 8 million tonnes of plastic that ends up in our oceans every year (that’s a truck load every second!). Plastic pollution in our oceans threatens the ecosystems, marine life and also human health.

The weekend was a the biggest and best yet for MCS with high hopes of beating last year's record of nearly 6,000 ocean heroes!
